I've got a 1994 240sx convertible, and the other day my keys became stuck in the ignition... The lock button on the starter will not even push in so that I can attempt to release. Has anyone else had this problem, or have any kind of ideas as to what I can do to fix it? I'd like to try and fix it without have to take it to a shop, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated...

Nah, I already tried that... The button won't press no matter what position the wheel's in... Tried everything I can think of short of taking stuff apart, which I was saving as a last resort. Oh well...

have you wiggled the shifter back and forth? On mine, sometimes the shifter doesn't click all the way back to Park, which causes the release button to be stuck.

you gotta take it apart. next to the lock button, there should be a switch that you can pry up with your finger nail. lift it up and push in the button.

let me know if you need pics.

This happened to me twice. The first time all I had to do was turn the steering wheel. The second time was when the battery cable slipped off the terminal. The key will not budge when the car loses power for some reason.

the key release cable may have come off, it attaches to the shifter - you could also probably find it under the dash somewhere.

If you are really need that fixed. you might try breaking the key . I know i know it sounds stupid. After you do that it will only be the part with all the ridges stuck in there. Take it to a locksmith. They will fix the rest. run you about 30 bucks.

pull the little plastic cover off around the clyinder there should be a little bronze colored pin with a red mark on it (mine was like that) take a pic tool and lift it up while pushing in the release button. It will go in and your key comes out. That happened when i tried starting my car and the bat was dead
