I have a 94Q and recently got a keyless remote off of ebay it worked for all of two days and then stopped. I attempted to reprogram it ( I have the instructions) but something is refusing to allow it to set. Should I disconnect the car battery cable to allow a reset (as in the cd changer). I am at a loss. I have new unit and a new battery in the unit.

When will Wes be home (Anderson) again?

It could be the BCM (body control module) that covers the entire locks/windows system. Do you have the FSM?

you have 2 remotes and one works and one doesn't?

could be the BCM, but i'd try a different remote first. remember, programming has to be followed to a 't' or no worky.

I do have the FSM and I will see Wes the next time he is home. As I read my post I was not quite as clear as I meant to be. The first remote was used and it worked for two days. I returned it for a new one which despite what I do does not seem to work. I really appreciate the assistance and meeting of the minds on this forum. I am now considering doing things on my Q that a year ago I never would have given thought to. Thanks to you all.

Keep us posted.

I bought a used remote off e-bay and programmed it. I have the FSM and followed the instructions. My problem is the system will only allow one remote at a time to work. I can program the 1st one but it will not accept the 2nd. I can go back and forth between remotes but it's always the same.

Let us know how things work out for you. I'll buy another remote just to see but if Wes has a special trick, I'd like to know about it.

Thanks!

I'm sure you know this, but when you are at the end of the programming sequence the last step is to depress the lock button on each of the remotes you are trying to program.

If you program one remote and then go through the entire sequence again for the second remote, it will unprogram the first. I just got a second remote a couple of weeks ago, and it took me a couple of tries, back and forth like you, to figure this out (even though the programming instructions were clear about this). Good luck.

Thanks for the reminder, Mike. I have the FSM on my lap when doing this procedure but I may have forgotten that last, little step. I'll try it again just to be sure I've got it covered.

Thanks again!!

at the end of the programming sequence, you press the LOCK button exactly ONCE (nothing happens!!), and then unlock/lock the thumb lever and press the LOCK button on the second remote exactly ONCE, and then unlock/lock the thumb lever for a third as you wish....if you press a second button, expecting something to happen, you will mees-up the programming mode for the subsequent remote.

I was able to go out and go through a series of attempts to reprogram the new one, since I sent the old one back to the seller. I have had no luck getting the vehicle to accept the program. So it may well be the BCM. Dammit, I have owned the Q for about 4 years and have never had a remote so I was stoked when it worked...... for all of two days.

Now I have to have it!!!!!!! I am now looking for a BCM .

What is the difference between the Anti Theft Keyless module and the Body Control Module. Is it possible my problem is one of a ATK module instead of a BC Module.

Well the problem was not the BCM or the Anti Theft Keyless Remote Module either. Wes's remote works on my car and his car without issue. I will now go and get a brand new battery in my old remote and give it a try. The new remote while pretty and new (purchased from ebay) does not appear to be the correct model so that seems to be the reason it never worked. If the battery is not the correction, I am back at square one.

The battery is good.

The problem is the remotes!!!

Neither of them was the correct one for my Q. My 94 needs a remote with the FCC ID: A269ZUA073. Wes 94 also ends in 073

The ones I purchased on ebay both, the brand new one and the used one, were FCC ID: A269ZUA078 .

It still does not explain why the used remoteallowed me to set the programand then worked fine forall of two days.

FC ID# is everything in remotes.

Some where (TSB?) there is a listing of remotes by MY and FCC#.
