I just recently bought a used keyless entry remote with FCC ID: KOBUTA3T and I am having trouble programming it. It's for a 1999.5 pathfinder production date Oct/1999 and I bought it used in 2004 with an aftermarket remote starter system installed. It only worked when it wanted to, and about 2 years after, the aftermarket remotes broke. So a couple months ago, I had the system removed in hopes of just buying a remote off ebay and sticking to the factory keyless system.
So now that I have the remote, I followed the programming instructions:
Close driver's door
Lock all doors from central locking switch on door panel
Insert and remove key from ignition at least 6 times within 10 seconds (SAW THE HAZARDS FLASH)
Insert the key again and turn to ACC position, and
Press a button on the remote within the next 5 seconds and wait for hazards to flash twice (BUT THEY NEVER DO).
So this is where I'm stuck, and I just want to know what the problem is so I can fix it myself. If the problem is not the remote, what else could be involved?
The remote pictured on the FSM for my car is different from the one that I have. Could this be the problem? I made sure that the remote I got was the correct one before ordering it, so I would be surprised if this is the issue. 99 is the year in which they made the facelift to the R50 pathfinder so it could be that I have the wrong remote, but I really hope that that's not the case.
Please help, thanks.
