welcome aboard

i believe you need to check the FCC(?) number on the back of the fob. i wrecked my max 3 months ago so i don't have a fob to look at. just make sure that that number matches on both fobs.

this also highly depends on whether or not you have the original fob. if not, then you might have a mell of a hess on your hands.

You're doing it right, you're just missing a step.

After you turn the key to Accessory, you need to unlock and relock the doors with the switch on the driver's door. Then you hit the lock button on the remote. If it worked the hazards should flash again. Then remove the key, get out and close the door, and try the remote.

We bought our '00 i30t used, without the remote key fob and just recently purchased a used key fob. I tried the following procedure and had to try several times, step-by-step, but eventually it worked. I think part of the trick is doing step 2 quickly enough. The first several times, I didn't get the hazard light. Just try several times before giving up. Oh, and make sure you have the right 2025 battery in the remote. My hubby had put a 2032 in and it didn't work.

1) Cose & lock all doors

2) Key in & out ignition 6 times

3) Hazard lights flashed 2x

4) Turn the key to the Accessory position

5) Unlock and relock the doors with the switch on the driver's door

6) Press the lock button on the remote

7) Hazards will flash twice again if it worked

8) Remove key and test remote
