Just thinking about my new Rogue and it's handy/dandy keyless lock and starter.

Picture this: I'm sitting in a restaurant with my Rogue key in my purse and the Rogue is parked on the street in front of the restaurant. I live in New York and there's often metered parking on the street.

Someone who knows about the little black button on the door handle uses it, starts the car and away they go! Of course without the key being nearby it would be useless once the motor is turned off but somehow I'm thinking there would be a way to circumvent this.

Any thoughts about this? How close do you have to be to be able to use this feature?

The "key" has to be very close for the button to work.

If you are standing at the drivers door with the key in your pocket, the button on the passenger door or rear hatch does not work.

phew! Thanks SuperD...I'm sure the exact distance is in the manual somewhere, still haven't read the whole thing yet.

It's about 3 feet from the button.

The car also will not start unless the key is actually inside the vehicle.
