Hi,

This is embarrassing, but...

I want to change my KICU on a 2006 Infiniti M35x and I actually have the FSM. The problem is I can't find the section of the FSM that describes the repair. I've gone the IDX section and can't find anything under "Key" or "Ignition". Any guidance is appreciated.

Have you located the module itself and are just looking for a way to repair it, or are you trying to find the location?

Check out the BL section - body, lock and security.
I don't know if Nissan refers to any specific component as the KICU, but there are some components mentioned therein that sound like they perform the same functions.

What problem are you trying to solve?

Thanks for the guidance..so far.
No, haven't isolated the unit yet (was hoping the exploded view diagram would help).
Key issue is that vehicle starts and you can watch the ignition toggle back and forth between "ON" and "ACC" while the instrument cluster blinks and the gauges swing back and forth. While driving you can get occasions where the dash will go dark and then come back on.

Dealer says it is the IKCU but others say that if that is bad then the car wont start at all. And given that Infiniti wants $1400 and change, I thought it was at least worth checking for loose connections, corrosion, etc....

Pardon me, somehow your reply escaped me. I am with the camp that thinks ignition issues would prevent it from starting... or at least when the cluster goes dark during a drive, the engine would stumble too.

Any further progress since your last post?
