Is there a diffrence between the I30 remote and J30 remote that will prevent one from being programmed for the other car even though they look the same?

I believe they run on two different frequencies.

They won't cross. Remotes aren't programmed, but they send a signal which the car's receiver learns when taught.

You must have a remote with FCC ID#:A269ZJAO73, or one that is compatible (aftermarket).

They go for criminal prices, $40 if you're lucky.
