my wife took the rogue to work today and couldn't start the car after work. she got in but the ignition wouldn't turn. she had a red light on the dash, then a green then both, but she couldn't turn the gizmo(what IS that called?)

after she got out and in a few times, pushed the botton on the door a few times, tried the actual KEY a few times i told her to first turn the steering wheel as much as she could ....only about 1/4" and jiggle the shift handle toward the engine....not towards drive....

the car finally started for her.

i'm guessing the steering wheel was locked to the left or right and needed to be freed up or the shifter wasn't fully in park.

anyone else have this happen to them? should i bring it in for service?

thanks all!

Lou did she have her remote/key in a bag with a cell phone? There are known issues with interference happening to Nissan/ Infiniti vehicles with I-key and cell phones. My Infiniti identifies the key fob much faster than my Rogue does which tells me Nissan uses 2 different recognition systems.

My problem is getting the driver side door to recognize the key to let me in.

I have had a couple of issues with doors noth opening when my keys were in my purse. I had a feeling it was because my cell phone was inside as well.

There is no reason when you use the key (include in the intelli-key) that the car doesn't start. Except if the steering wheel is lock. If the shifter is not at park, you can't turn off your car btw.

also have a 2009 rogue. bought this one in july2009(traded 2008 rogue in). We have had nothing but problems with the (intelligent?) key system since. Our 2008 rogue also had intelligent key and worked great,as did our2007 maxima before. We have had it give the red key and also stop in the road and requir the use of the manual key. The black buttuns to open it work when they feel like it and it unlocks itself while you are away at times. This is just a few of the things it has done since two weeks old. The dealer has had it three times and replaced the complete intel key system and the the BCM. Still it continues to cause us a lot of problems.I wanted to post on this forum about our problems but don't know how(I'm an old guy with limited computor skills). So if anyone else is having intelligent key problems I woujd like to know. Thanks

My Keyless Lock/Unlock signal seems so low, that I almost have to get beside the car to make it work. My Camry Keyless works from inside the house (6 years old). Any reason why this happens? Its definitely not the battery, cause, both FOB does the same.
