I just installed a keyless entry system into my 1993 Infiniti J30 and the doors unlock and lock just fine, but when I unlock the doors with the key fob, and then open the door, the alarm goes off. But when I just unlock them with the key, the alarm does not go off.

Before I installed my keylees entry system, the locks always acted weird, like the doors would all the sudden lock by themselves, and sometimes the back doors would not lock with the front doors.

I read that this could have to do with the door lock timer, but do you think that the alarm going off when using the key fob could have anything to do with the door lock timer? Thanks.

What keyless entry system did you install?

Im going to assume before you installed the keyless entry system you previously did NOT have keyless entry, and you always locked/unlocked the doors with the key.

Now that you installed the aftermarket system using the remote it came with causes the 'factory alarm' to turn on.

If thats the case, then you need to find the factory dis-arm wire. Connect a diode to your unlock wire, and run that to the factory dis-arm.

Let me know if this doesnt fix it

The OEM disarm wire on that car is Green/Red and requires a negative pulse when the doors unlock to disarm the OEM alarm. I'd get two diodes and wire the stripe end (cathode) to the keyless entry's unlock wire and then take the anode of one diode to the unlock wire (yellow/black I believe) and the other anode to the Green/red OEM disarm wire. This will allow you to unlock and disarm the alarm at the same time.

You should be able to find it in the drivers door jam/kick panel. It may possibly be at the door lock timer left of the steering column (which is where you can find the lock/unlock wires)

Another note, the unlock wire will probably work straight from the unlock wire from the keyless entry but the OEM disarm wire might require a better ground signal. If it doesn't work you might have to wire the keyless unlock wire to a relay and use it to switch ground to both the vehicle unlock and the OEM disarm wires.
