Hey all,

I just bought a 96 I30 and it came with a keyless remote, but I can't seem to get it working. I followed instructions on entering programming mode and the car goes into mode, but the remote doesn't do anything. I just replaced the battery in it, but still nothing. I checked the battery terminals with an ohmmeter and they were all ok. I'm doing the following procedure, can someone let me know if I'm missing something? Maybe my remote unit is bad?

Procedure followed:

1. get in car, lock all door with master lock switch.2. Open trunk with interior switch.3. Insert and remove key until hazards flash4. turn key to "on"5. Unlock doors using master lock switch6. Turn key to off, hit alarm button on keyless remote.

That's it and it ain't working. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This is actually how the procedure goes:

1.Get in & lock the doors2.Insert the key into the ignition 6 times within 15 seconds3.Hazard lights should flash4.Put key back into the ignition & turn to Accessory5.Press the master door lock (on drivers door arm rest) unlock/lock6.Hit the lock button on the remote7.Hazards should flash8.Pull key out and open the drivers door and then close it9.It should be set

Damn, you gotta be a video game master to pull off s**t like that. It's like a fatality move on Mortal Combat!

Damn,

Tried this sequence and still nothing. I think I'll have to take my remote to the dealer and have them see if it's any good. Hopefully they won't charge me just to check out a damn remote unit. Thanks for the help I appreciate it.
