I was inspired by another entry that said the electric door actuators are installed in all Versas they are just not hooked up. So I did some digging in the service manual and somebody correct me if I'm wrong please. The electric door locks are controlled by the BCM (Body Control Module) and every Versa has one! If your Versa has the Tire Pressure Monitoring System you also have a Remote Keyless Entry Receiver. It looks to me like there is only one type of wiring harness in the doors. (I haven't looked inside mine yet to verify this) What stops someone from ensuring all the connections are good, buying a keyless remote and programming it. It can't be this simple could it? Is there possibly different software in the BCM or the ECU?

I wouldn't put it past me that it is that simple. See if a dealer has a spare Key-less entry remote you can borrow to test it out.

From my experience on other cars for ease of construction all the looms are the same and are fitted early into the body shell, what is not fitted is the small hardware bits and pieces like the actuators etc which opperate the "extras". Will your idea work I don't know but it just might.

From another thread on this forum others have retrofitted their cars using an aftermarket keyless entry system with the door actuators already installed in all Versas. I'm saying all the pieces are there for keyless entry (I hope) except the remote. Does anybody know a Nissan mechanic that could verify any of this?

The wiring harnesses are not the same and you cant program a Nissan remote. I think they load different software on the computer. However it is pretty simple to wire up the actuators on a long afternoon following the advice of some other posts on this topic and using an after market keyless entry system. I used a Bulldog system for $40 on Amazon. It makes life a lot easier!

Mitch... could you please post a ling to the other threads on wiring the actuators? It would greatly be appreciated.

I am also thinking of the Bulldog system for around $40 from Amazon. First things first, though. Gotta get the actuators wired up and install a switch in the dash.
