Keyless Entry (Key Fob) wont reprogram (Cant erase previous ID Codes)

Howdy

I just got a nice keyless entry fob for my 1997 j30. I tried to follow the instructions but after inserting and removing the key from the ignition the requisite amount of times, the car does not flash the hazards, and the fob wont be repogrammed.

Can anyone offer advice? Why wont the car flash the hazards after the insertion process?

The key I have is not the factory origianl but says "For Nissan" the other side says "Curtis Da31". Is that why it wont work? I bought the car used and dont know much about this.

You did unlock and lock the drivers side door manually, NOT using the switch? BTW i often press the buttom multiple times.....

I'll try again , but the problem is in step :

3. Insert and remove the key from the ignition key cylinder six times within 10 seconds.

Before I need to press the button on the keyless, the car is supposed to flash the hazard lights to show the codes are clear. It doesn't do it. Is it because the key I have isn't the original?

not its not... your supposed to push the lock button on the remote, and then it will flash to show that the new one has been programmed... BTW in my notes it says more than 10 times within 10 seconds
