Keyless entry fob interchangability?

I just picked up a 2000 QX4 recently and it didn't come with the keyless entry remote. Ebay has them anywhere from $50-$100. Now what I'm wondering is if I could use a remote from maybe the pathfinder? i30? I saw one on ebay for an i30 for $30 shipped. Can anyone confirm whether any other models of nissan or infiniti keyless remotes are interchangable? My buddy said as long as I find a infiniti keyless remote with the FCC ID starting with "KBR" then I should be able to use it..any info is appreciated. thanks in advance.

got mine for 24.99, non original (aftermarket brand) but works for 99 qx4.

Did you have to reprogram the "brain" as well? Or did you just program the keyfob itself?? And what brand did you get?

they gave me instructions on how to program the remote . pretty easy, took about 5 mins at most. procedures i also found here----http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 236AAJyW5C

they gave me a different looking one compared to the original remote, on the back it has remocon stamped to it. dont know if thats the brand or the model. but works just like the original, although i havent figured out why my horn confirmation would not sound off when locking the car. tried pressing unlock and lock and holding it for 20 sec but still wont work but i have learned to live with that.
