recently bought a 1993 maxima with the 5 button key code pad on front doors. previous owner had no idea of code. how do i locate it, reset it, anything to get it into use?

The car came with a very small metal tag on a key ring with a number on it. That number can be used by a dealer to reference the master code for your doors. If the previous owner gave you all the original documentation, the tag will probably be in with it.Dealers MAY be able to look up the code for you based on your car's VIN as well. I had this done once just to see if it was possible, but since it was done at the dealer that originally sold my car, I can't say for sure if it's something all dealers can do. Still, if all else fails, you can give the dealer that sold your car in 1993 a call and see if they still have it on record.
