Key stuck in ignition

My steering wheel won't lock and the key is stuck. Can anyone help?it's a 95

Jiggle it back and forth as you push in and pull out?

I got it out! My car used to be an automatic and it has this cable that goes from the ignition to uhh.. nowhere so i pushed it in and out several times and the key came out like usual. I guessed I must of did something when I installed my turbo timer.
