Key stuck in ignition

Just like the title says my key is stuck in the ignition the shifter is not locking into position in P or D and so the key will not turn all the way back to the off position.

I tore the console apart and it looks and feels like the small pin that locks the shifter in position is not moving all the way up it is sticking in the spot where it would be if it were in reverse.

if anyone could help that would be great.

Usually wiggling the shifter around will help get it to pop into the PARK position properly. Was a soda ever spilled on the shifter?
