It's time for me to hunt for all keys, test them and to re-read portions of the manuals. It would make most sense for the wallet key to be as flat and compact as possible, meaning no black plastic cover on one end, and I suppose the plastic could easily break-off/be removed.driverdriver wrote:The valet keys in the 1993 and 1994 models where a one piece silver unit with the Infiniti logo engraved, miked12601 has stated his key has a black cover with infiniti emblem.
Maybe..., though looking at the keys in the photo more closely, the key with the black cover on top is the most different in terms of how it's cut. Notice the different widths of the center ridges. I sure would rather sit on a totally flat Wallet key, as opposed to one that has a bump causing black top cover piece, plus a Security key with a black top cover piece would be easier to keep track of in the valet parking process.GerryO wrote:
driverdriver is correct; you have a Wallet key , but you already knew that.
The more I look at the keys in the photo and the owner's manual diagram, the more I'm convinced that the key with the black covered top is the Security key, plus it just makes more sense. There's even a fine line in the diagram that indicates the presence of the top black cover piece. Once the locks are more worn and it's been made to work, there's no going back.driverdriver wrote:It took awhile for my wallet key to work, mostly due to the fact I either use the remote or the latch release on the driver door. I had to use lots of liquid wrench in the trunk lock to get it to work.
It probably won't be possible to cut new and really accurate Master keys using a Security key as the template. Hopefully a dealership or locksmith can/will help with both locating your Key number and cutting some new keys.miked12601 wrote: Update: I found out that i may have the security key, but mine will open and lock the glove box which the owners manual says it wouldn"t. So if this is the case i don't have the master or wallet keys. Still would like to know if i can get the key number from the dealer for the other keys!

So I did some more digging around and located a small stamped aluminum rectangular plate that could be the Key number plate for my '93 J30 (the small hole in the plate that I found is punched to the right of the numbers, though).miked12601 wrote:

Further to the Liq Wrench/WD40, I'd suggest an air can with a straw(used for cleaning computer circuit boards) to blast/force the spray oil all around the interior of the lock. It can't hurt, right?yodawill2000 wrote:WD40 is worth a shot on your truck lock.they tend to freeze up a bit because most of the time its popped open by the drivers door button or the remote.
