Hi,

My mom's got a 240sx 2 days ago. I tried to pull off the key from the ignition, but I am unable to do that. I tried to push the little button near the key (as I was told) but it is stucked, as the key. Can somebody help me with a step by step instruction how to get the key off of the car? Thnx. And please do not laugh, it is already very embarassing :]

the ignition is probably broken just like mine :)take the oval shaped piece of plastic that sits around the ignition off (its about 1.5 inches in diameter). there should be a 5mm 'emergency release' lever that you flip up underneath it. then you should be able to remove the key. There is a solenoid that controls it. it may have gone bad or the plug may have come out. or the ignition mechanism itself is bad.

The steering wheel lock will sometimes exert force on the ignition lock cylinder. Try this: push in the release button you were already pushing, now turn the steering wheel back and forth while turning the key back. If you feel the key turn back, you should be able to pull it out then.

Yup. When I said "a couple twists", I forgot to add "of the steering wheel". My bad.

Thnx everybody for the tips. The problem was that my mother uses too gently the gearshift. For this car she has to push it to the parking position with a little bit more power than she usually uses. :] After that operation the key can be easily pulling out.
