Key issues 1991 Q45

Hi I own a 1991 q45 with only 50,000 mile on it great car but i an having issues with the locks the key will not insert all the way it sticks I have lubed checked the key for burrs have tried the key in my other q and it slide in ok the glove box key from my other q works fine that is it will insert all the way . the issue is getting worse to a point where the car is going leave me stranded anyone have any ideas?? Ihave checked with the dealer a complete lock set is no longer available

Try blowing out the keyhole with compressed air and see what comes out. The link Brian posted saves you about 25% off MSRP. Call IOS and give them your VIN and they can cut a key and send it to you for cheaper than your local stealership.

Pay an expert LOCKSMITH to clean and rebuild locks.

The same key is giving you trouble in both doors? Strange.

I have a door key and a different key for the ignition. The ignition key can unlock the driver's door if I insert it just right. But the same key won't open the passenger door or the trunk. Conversely, my door key won't turn in the ignition.

Same with the valet key. Good for doors, no good for ignition.

Hope you can get this sorted out. I think Tech's method may be the best route after Goody's.

thanks to all for your responses about my key issue i will look into trying some of the soulitions yes i am having issue with all the locks on the car except the glove box
