So my friend tells me that my key immobilizer went bad on my 00 Q45. The car is not getting any spark or fuel, and the red security light stays on the entire time it is cranked.....he also says it is a dealer necessary programming issue.

So what are my options? Any way to bypass this thing just to get it running and just sell the car? I am getting frustrated. Idea of what the dealer would charge for this? I am guessing around $4-500, so I question whether it will be worth it, or if I should just cut my losses.

Thanks for the input

I know that used car dealers usually have a locksmith/key guy on hand who can make and program an immobilizer key for cars bought at insurance auctions, that come without keys when bought. I personally know a used car dealer who has a guy like that on speed dial and he only charges about $200 total. Ask around at used car or salvage car dealers or maybe you know one who can help point you in the right direction. Stealership is just that, out to rip you off. Good hunting.
