Would anyone have any idea just what this little key is for. Clearly a Nissan product, the USB stick is for size comparison
I found it in the glove box of my car when I bought it, Car is a 2005 Nissan Fuga 450GT Sport

Looks like the onedrive link didnt work with the forum, will have to fiigure that out. The key is just a bit longer than a USB stick, black with Nissan printed on it. It has a small chrome ring at one end with a small spring loaded plunger inside it

Is it a valet key?

Dont think its a valet key, the only possibility so far is a little plug I found under dash, have tried it in the plug but I sure didnt see or hear anything happen, I will try and get a photo of the plug and post up

Photo of the little plug/socket under the dash alongside steering wheel. The push switch I am guessing may be some sort of headlight adjustment, but the socket I have no idea. The key I found sort of fits onto the socket but doesnt engage with it in any noticeable way

I have the pdf manual for the M45 Sport, which as near as I can tell is the same, (just a lot of things on the wrong side of the car) So far I havent found anything that matches. I am starting to assume that it is an optional extra of some sort, but just what is the problem

I would look behind that interface to see where wires are going and to what module.

Had a look, but gave up on tracing it back. It would be a bit of a major pulling everything apart, and the probability is that if I found a module, I still wouldnt know what its for
I guess thats the problem with the Japanese sourced Fuga;s. All sorts of little extras and no-one really knows what they do a lot of the time

I'm no fuga expert but to me that looks more like the toggle to a switch I've seen some cars that require a switch to access all of the horsepower the car has available. Wouldnt that be sweet? You've been driving a car for a few months one day you find a mysterious switch under your dash and then little harps come out and play the tune of oh so sweet RPMs

God that would be great.....The other pic I have put up is the only thing I can find that might do something with the key
Have only tried it in the socket when parked, so maybe its time to try it on the road
The car is the sports version with the tech package so who knows whats been added onto it

Well I tried the switch with the motor running, but no noticeable difference in HP, but will give it another go over the next few days when I am on a longer trip.....
As much as the key is a mystery so is the little button with a pic of what looks like someone standing in a headlight beam ???? god only knows what they put into these cars sometimes

Hey. I have the same in my fuga. Its a emergency key to switch off the alarm.

I had speculation it was this from research done in the nissan parts catalog (i work for a nissan dealer)

But i can tell you for certain it is this after i tried to lock a friend out as a joke. I unlocked the car got in and locked it with the remote while inside. The car started beeping at me. I started the car which set off a siren for the alarm. In a panic i got the black plug looking key and put it in the slot, which deactivated the alarm siren

Nice! Thanks for sharing.

OP, try this and see if you can replicate it.

Nathefresh, might you have info on what the knob beside it does? I can't think of any features for Nissan with adjusting for pedestrians.

Maybe something to do with light aiming? As to not blind other 'people' not necessarily 'pedestrians'.

looks like its for the headlight level adjustment, not sure. mine does not have that and i cant see it in the parts catalog.

Mine has a level sensor on the rear sway bar link and the headlights level automatically from that.

That would make sense. A fair number of Infiniti vehicles in the 2000s came with a knob or dial to adjust the headlight aim manually over 4 levels due to luggage. It was marketed mainly to not blind drivers ahead so to me it seems a little odd to see a human resemblance on it, haha

Yeah. Its a bit of a puzzle that switch, it only has a single springloaded position though, which doesnt really tie in with a multiple adjustment switch.

The good news though is that I seem to have sorted the key query. I Hope. It would appear to be part of an engine immobilizer system, similar to the Cobra Engine Immobilizer.

Awesome thread guys i have a Fuga 450 GT and mine came with the same little key glad i know what it does now.
Has anyone with a Fuga had any success changing language on the screen to English i am looking at doing this by changing the Navi DVD Bluetooth unit in glove box with one from an infiniti of eBay but mine has 3 extra sockets on the back.
One socket (black socket) is for a ETC (electronic toll collection) module on the right of the steering wheel.
the other one is unknown and has quite a few wires on it.
these sockets are not in the infiniti manual.
anyone know if this will work before i buy the equipment

I read on a webpage ( google nissan intelliegen cruise control ) that if you have the Intelligent cruise control, it is controlled primarily with the radar unit in the front lower grill, but can also have a gps input, in that it will sense corners etc coming up on the road. I would have thought that the GPS side of it would have been dependant on the map used but am not too certain on this, as I have noticed that when on cruise control with ICC going my car will slow for sharp corners, without any input from me
Possibly that plug might be the connector or the Cruise control input

The little pedestrian button on my 2007 350GT fuga stops the front parking sensors from beeping. So when I pull up and park close to a bush for example it stops the constant beeping noise if you leave the engine running. When I change gear from park to reverse etc the beeping starts again. Not sure if the front park sensors are aftermarket and this button has been re-purposed?
