Key FOBs don't work but batteries are OK...?

I have two intelligent keys for my 07 Versa. Both slowly stopped working...what I mean is that that would stop working gradually more frequently. I took them to the dealer and they said the batteries were fine.

This is a pain for obvious reasons, made worse by my alarm going off 3 times today before I figured out how to turn it off.

Assuming that the FOBs are OK, what might the problem be? If I can try and fix this myself I can save the money taking it to the dealer, who wants to charge a LOT just to look at it.

Is there a receiver on the car that might be bad? Could the FOBs need to be reprogrammed? If that's possible, how do you do it (assuming it's something I can do myself)?

Thanks for any help.

I normally just replace the battery in my keys and it usually fixes this issue.

But the dealer said the battery was ok...

What battery does it take and how do I open it?

It should say right on the back of the fob.
To open it, use a coin and insert it in the space between where the keyring attaches and twist. It simply pops open. There is some snit-corrosion paste stuff on the contacts inside, be sure not to touch it and wipe it off.

Thanks for your help. The fob itself didn't say what kind of battery but I was able to get it open. I had to ask - I didn't know if it required any special tricks and didn't want to break anything. I'll pick up a battery tomorrow and hopefully that will do it.

Seems easy to do after you get it open eh?

Hopefully a new battery works for ya!

Definitely!

An update: I got the battery and replaced it and it worked like a charm. Remember, this is despite the dealer telling me the battery was fine, and I'd need to bring it in for a $200 diagnostic. Needless to say I'm not pleased with the dealer, who has always always seemed like they were trying to scam. The dealer is Boyland Nisaan in Macomb, MI. I won't be back.
