Help! I am new to Nico and have a question about my 2003 M45. My key fob will start car but will not lock or unlock doors the light on the fob lights up when I press button so I don't think the battery is dead. I did recently replace a fuse for the dome light due to shorting it out when I changed a bulb. I did pull multiple fuses until I found the correct one. I also noticed after change fuse that the maintance option on screen in now unavailable. Thanks!

Your issue is relatively easy to solve but it requires a visit to the dealer. The fob has to be re-programmed to the car. it will probably be $45 in labor to do. But they may wash & vacuum it for you too.

I say relatively easy because you can start the car. If it also did not start the car, the microchip in the fob is dead or missing and that's a $400 fix.
Till then Remember that you can still unlock the car by using the traditional key and unlocking it old school style. Trunk too. Find the keyhole for it under the trunk lip.

I don't think that is the reason or the car wouldn't start. I think you have something interfering with your RF near you. Check your cell phone or any other object you have on you or in the car that has some type of wireless capabilities...bluetooth/wifi/3or4G/whatever/or even electromagnetic disturbance near one of the receivers in the car. I had the exact same issue and narrowed it down to my carputer.

I know you mentioned the light coming on on the fob itself but I would try replacing the battery anyway just to rule that out. I THINK I recall having a similar issue on my 07. Changing the battery resolved it.

I disassembled the Fob and put it back together and it works fine now! I also disconnected and reconnected battery and it reset the maintenance option on screen. Thanks!
