Your issue is relatively easy to solve but it requires a visit to the dealer. The fob has to be re-programmed to the car. it will probably be $45 in labor to do. But they may wash & vacuum it for you too.
I say relatively easy because you can start the car. If it also did not start the car, the microchip in the fob is dead or missing and that's a $400 fix.
Till then Remember that you can still unlock the car by using the traditional key and unlocking it old school style. Trunk too. Find the keyhole for it under the trunk lip.
