Hello all.

It has been a mad long time since I have been on this site, but I had a question and a search revealed that my question had not be explicitly answered.

I lost my key fob because it broke off my key chain. So I decided to check the car on the off chance that it somehow dropped inside. The alarm started ringing as expected even though I opened the door with my key. Nothing I did would get the alarm to shut off, so I popped the hood and unplugged the battery until I figured out what to do. I have read the guides online for reprogramming a new fob, but I was just wondering if the exact same steps apply if the alarm is already going off. I read that you can hold 2 buttons to disable the horn chirp, and I figured this is what applied to me, but I just wanted clarification. Thanks in advance.

Try unlocking the passenger door with the key, sometimes the drivers lock mechanism is worn and won't disarm the alarm. Also, try placing the key in the ignition.

Neither will be fun with the alarm blaring, but worth trying until you can get a new fob.

Duct tape or disco the alarm horn before you reconnect battery.

Mine does the same every now and then.

But if I shut the door back without locking it and lock/unlock the door a second time it shuts off the alarm.

Thanks a ton guys! I disconnected the horn before plugging the battery, and then I tried unlocking the passenger door with the key and it worked like a charm. Much appreciated.

The drivers side lock should work the same way, but is probably dirty.

Is there an easy way of cleaning it out? I mean I don't mind going around and opening the passenger side door first, especially on the rare occasions I have a lady in the car because she assumes I am being chivalrous and all that jazz. However, it would be nice to have the option.

Until you realize she hasn't leaned over to open your side and just starts looking at her self. Thats when you open your side first get in and then lean and unlock her door but not open it... Thats why I watch a Bronx Tale once or twice a week just as a reminder. .lolol.....just kidding....

Treat the whores like queens, and the queens like whores and you`ll do ok.

I've never had to, but you might try finding a real automotive lock smith and see what they recommend??

Hahaha! Professional help? You must be bonkers. On a side note, my transmission gave out. **** my life. In one gigantic splash of ATF, the Q has turned from a reliable, albeit thirsty daily driver, with very high standards for oil and gas (needs which I was more than happy to oblige), INTO A MONEY PIT!

I meant ask them, not have them do it.

Sorry to hear about the transmission trouble. I had to replace one myself. I tried a "low mile used" from a wrecked "good running Q from a reputable NICO member. The car drive but showed signs of issues, presumably from the used transmission sitting for a prolonged period between the original car and mine . I ultimately bit the bullet and got one from Joe (Infiniti of Scottsdale).

Transmission Replacement is definitely a punt or go for it decision.

Good luck.
