Hi everyone, I have an 05 altima with a remote starter which uses the factory key fob, I just got the remote starter fixed it needed a new bypass. Right after I got that fixed my factory key fob has to be right next to the car to work, I have to push the lock button twice to activate the starter, it will only lock and unlock the doors from far away but it won't lock twice. What happened, I tryed replacing the battery twice still doesn't help. Do I need a new key fob or what?

Thanks Thomas

Hi Thomas - welcome to Nico. Be sure to check out the 3rd Generation threads as a resource for insight to your own 3rd Gen.

Before anyone, including myself, provides a solution for you, I must say I'm a little confused and need some clarification. First you say the key fob has to be right next to the car in order for it to function properly. Following this, you say that the key fob will only lock and unlock your car from far away. Do you mean that the key fob has to be right next to the car in order to start it?

Let us know please. I'm sure I'm not the only one confused. Thanks!

It will lock and unlock from about 30 feet, but will not lock twice from 30 feet to activate the starter it will only do it from about 10 feet. Do you think the repair to the remote strater would have anything to do with this? Cause it worked fine before. Or maybe I need a new key fob.I am lost.

Thanks Thomas

I would assume it does have to do with the remote starter. I would consult the installer and let them know of the issue and explain to them that you did not have this problem prior to the most recent "repair".
