Key FOB Lost/Stolen

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Does anyone have an idea how much it costs to re-program the car, a new key FOB, and one original key FOB if one of the original one was lost / stolen?

Thanks.

My dealer quoted $100 for the key and $80 for programming up to 3 keys. They can copy the program from the remaining good key. If you have to reprogram the car, that's probably extra and only necessary if you think the key's been stolen.

I found a blank key on ebay for $50. You might check there and save some money on the blank.

I don't think they copy from the remaining key. They reprogram the car itself and bind it to keys. They need all the keys to program their id's into the car system.
Be careful when buying keys from eBay. There're was a recall on keys, and it seems like some of those recalled keys with intermittent problems made it to eBay. I've bought more then one defective key there. On a good side, dealer replaced the defective keys under warranty and reprogrammed everything for free - I didn't tell them I bought them of eBay :). It was pain in the neck though to convince them that there's a problem. Any time they check, the problem was not there, and as soon as I leave, the key would not work. Eventually, the problem manifested itself in their presence.
