Hi there,

I have the base S model with the power package and it's my first car that has a key fob for keyless entry. Anyway, it seemed when I first purchased my Versa when I pressed the lock button it would beep twice and when I pressed unlock it would flash the lights twice. I could be a complete moron but I do not recall pressing either button twice. Anyway, as of late it will only beep once when I lock my car and flash the lights once if I unlock it.

I don't know if this has anything to do with me turning the horn feature off and on a few times. I don't think that would have hurt it.

Also, does anyone else have distance issues with their fob? It seems sometimes I can be 100 feet away and other times I have to be 20 feet away for it to work.

Key fobs are RF transmitters, and as such are subject to environmental factors. They're really reliable up close, and CAN be reliable at long distances, but their signals can get disrupted.

Ever Victorious is exactly right. The range of the keyfob can be affected by a lot of things, on both the sending and recieving ends.

I'm fairly sure the manual has info on changing the "beeps" when locking/unlocking.

Ya, I read about changing it from Beeps-ON to Beeps-OFF. However, when you lock your doors does your Versa beep ONCE or TWICE???

Mine beeps once, but I haven't tried the on/off function yet.

I have an SL with the i-key, so mine may be a bit different.

However, Mine sounds the horn once when I lock it with the key fob, and beeps twice (not the horn, just a beep) when I use the 'request switch', which is the little black oval button on the door handle if you're not familiar with the i-key system. It does not sound the horn at all when unlocking with the fob, and beeps once when I use the request switch to unlock.

Does this help any?
