I would never do this... you're more likely to loose your phone than your keyfob (which never leaves my pocket). This just presents bigger theft issues for me. Put your phone on your desk and someone knows you have access to your car with it, and snags it and now they have your phone and your car.

As long as you don't tell people about it, no one should know that you're using your cell to open the doors, especially if you always keep the fob in your pocket. If you ever had to valet your car though, would you have to give them your phone? That is if you didn't want to bring an extra key fob with you.

imo sometimes too much convienence is a security issue. I may be more paranoid than others, but I live in a large metropolis where theft is an everyday fear for me. I wouldn't want another way for crooks to gain access to my car. A keyfob is plenty enough convienence for me. Loosing my phone with all my contacts and info is a big enough a fear for me, combining that with my car would be catastrophic. Why don't we just add our home keys to our phone along with our credit card information too?? That way we don't even need to carry a wallet!

Sith, I know what you mean...grew up in Brooklyn and only recently moved out. I still worry about the car whenever I park it outside the parents' place. No matter how much of a security risk or whatever it may be, the idea in itself is cool. The practical application is a different thing.

I would defenetly buy this. But it would haft to use extra security like a key code you haft to enter to enable the key fob. It would also haft to be a seperate signal. It is to easy for people to clone cellphones now a days. So if someone did clone my cell phone, I dont want them cloaning my key fob as well.

Next I want to see a shot that will inject your key fob into your body so you never need a key. Or key fobs built into our cloths. lol
