Seems our spare key fob battery is dead. Went to use it the other day and nothing, no start, no lock/unlock etc. Never even used it and it was stored in the house since '08. Can the battery be replaced or do I need to buy a new one? If so, what battery?

The batteries for both the regular fob and the Intellikey are user replaceable.

Read pg 8-21 of your owners manual: "Battery Replacement"

Regular fob battery: CR1620
Intellikey battery: CR2025

I recently replaced the battery in my intelikey and the process was quite simple....take out the emergency key, slide a small bladed screwdriver in the slot, twist it and pop, the whole case opens...piece of cake.

Thanks folks. I'll pick up a battery and get 'er done. Not sure why it went dead in the first place after not being used at all. The original one is still going good.

Not sure why it would have died jmbones. It's a lithium battery that should have a shelf life of ~ 10 years. Presumably the remote draws a small amount of current, but even then I figure it should be good for at least 5 years.

Hello,

I tried searching but I could not find a response to my question. Do I need to take my keys to the dealer to replace the batteries in my key fobs? I tried replacing one, but the keyless entry was not working (I am assuming that I had the battery in the right way and the right type of battery). I am not sure if teh dealer has to do something to reprogram the keys.

Reprogramming is not necessary for a battery change.
Try a different battery, the one you installed may have been defective.
Make sure the battery is installed the right way and making full contact.
