I do not know much about headunits, but I came across a Kenwood Excelon DDX 8017 for $300. I saw on the internet that the product has been discontinued at some online stores. Does anyone happen to know why? Also, I saw that it used to retail for approx. $800-$1000 ? I don't know how much truth there is behind the sites that I looked at. I would like to know is $300 a good deal for a working Kenwood Excelon DDX 8017, or is it not? Thanks

The main reason why its been discontinued is because its an older unit. It's been replaced by a much newer one. Since the 8017 there have been 3 newer models to have come out. The newest one being the Excelon DDX814 which i believe has also been discontinued as well. But for an excelon model 300 is an ok price but You could get the newer ddx814 for $500 refurbished.
