I just bought a Kenwood 5140 Nav unit for our Rogue. I was wondering where you folks who have this unit are placing the antenna for it. I understand it stays inside the car but I don't like the thought of it just sitting on the dash.

Thanks

My antenna used to sit outside of the car. It was located next to the windshield. You can easily squeeze the wire between door and the car and then put it under the fender. I guess it was the best location I could find and you don't see the antenna inside of the car.

I have the Kenwood 5120 in my Hyundai Accent and the antenna is routed into the glove box, reception is fine (2-3 bars). The antenna is out of the elements (clean, safe and dry) and I don't worry about it damaging the paint.

As to mounting the GPS antenna... although I have yet to install a Nav in my Rogue, in my wife’s Acura I ran the GPS antenna wire behind the dash, up and inside the passenger side window pillar. Then using 3M double sided tape stuck it in the very corner of the windshield where the pillar meets the roof. We never even notice it.

Although I'm sure you're referring to the GPS antenna and not an aftermarket radio antenna... for the radio antenna (depending on your factory radio config) I used an aftermarket antenna adapter cable like this one that allows you to plug into the Rogues existing wire harness so you can use the vehicles existing roof mounted antenna. http://www.installer-parts.com...-ni12

I just had the unit installed today and am quite pleased with the thing. The Nav antenna was mounted on the outside of the vehicle at the back, you can hardly see it.

I may try to post a couple of pictures if anyone is interested later.
