Always run a thermostat. Engines are designed to run at certain temperatures. Too hot AND TOO COLD, are very bad for the engine. Causing alot of wear and eventual failure. As stated by "240driver39", you should not run without one to "keep it cool". Fix whatever problems you have with the cooling system. Upgrage it for turbo, but never run without a thermostat, you are just asking for engine failure.
