I just came back from my first shakedown run with the redtop. While standing back to admire my work, I saw bugs rammed in my front mount. ALOT of bugs. I was gone maybe 20 minutes, and I must have caught up a dozen or so.

Are all front mounts bug traps? Is there an easy way to get the crusty little buggers out? looks so gross

I think I would be more worried about rocks than bugs.

i would go get outdoor insect repellant or killer. just kill them, they shouldnt really return, but make sure you get outdoor stuff that has resistance to weather

Stainless mesh to prevent and any bug-b-gone cleaner. Look in the RV section at Walmart for a green thick item in spray bottle.

Or you can just not sweat it? your acting like a few bugs is a big deal? come back when you can complain about your turbo being so large its sucking in small animals and children, until then....deal with it.

When your intake temps rise 200 deg from the bugs coating your intercooler and you detonate it will be a big deal. (Xcountry trip in a turbo SVX and it blew in South Cackalacky) If you catch a rock in the intercooler and its not accessible to braze shut and you have to replace it its a big deal. Once a year this happens so I have gotten very good at aluminum brazing

I didnt have any problems with so many bug's coating my intercooler that my intake temp's rose so high I detonated....Maybe you should wash your car more or get a better tune.

Even though this reduces air flow, dramatically, it may be a good idea to protect your investment if your area has a high bug count Cleaning or replacing a mesh screen is a lot easier and cheaper.

Go to any place that works on semitrucks. See if you can get a used airfilter, they'll probably give it to you for free because they just throw them away. Take it home and cut off the mess around it, works perfect! It's exactly the same as the APC mesh stuff sold at Autozone and Orielys
