My xbox is in a semi-confined space, with lots of wires, and it seems to get fairly hot. I want to start keeping it sitting vertical instead of horizontal so that all the vents are open, but after hearing about the nightmares of PS2 owners back in the day that bought vertical stands and the tendency of the Xbox to scratch discs even in the horizontal position, I am very wary about running it like this. Does anyone keep their 360 vertical? Have you ever gotten scratches on your disc from keeping it like this? Does it seem to run any cooler than if it was laying down? If you can answer any of these questions, your input is requested

Mine has been vertical for just about a year now and I've had no problems whatsoever.

no problems with it being vertical, just DO NOT try to turn it when there is a disc spinning in it! I learned this the hard way and the guys at gamestop called me out on it when i tried to trade in some games.

Yeah, I learned that the day I bought mine. My dad saw it and picked it up a little bit while I was playing Saint's Row, and that disc has had a scratch on it ever since. It made a horrible sound, my dad was pretty surprised.

Sounds like I'm going to leave it standing. Thanks for the input guys.

I have 2 of the 3 of mine in vertical positions. they work fine.

As an aside, many 360 tinkerers tend to believe the cooling system works better in the horizintal position. However, it doesn't appear to be inadequate for vertical positions.

That's what they told me too when I tried to pull a quick one and trade in a scratched up Saints Row. I'm probably gonna start keeping it vertical though.
