I just recently purchased a 2006 Altima 2.5, Silver on black, 23k miles ^^ for $14,000. And I want to install my 5 1/2 & 6/9 Infinity Speakers, My subs and my Amp... Thing is... I wanna keep the same stock stereo the car came with because a deck would look ugly. My question is.. Anyone know the the stock stereo watts it puts out, and If i changed out the stock speakers, if the stock stereo deck will still sound fine, and Crank my new speakers??

depends on whether or not your new speakers are 4ohm or 2 ohm.. 2ohm speakers will sound louder at any given volume... if your stockers were 4 ohm, and your new ones are 2 ohm, they are gonna sound worse. I believe the infinity reference are 2 ohms, so if you have the reference speakers, and you replace your stockers, it should sound better since the infinity speakers are better quality than the stockers in the base models.

I don't know why you say an aftermarket headunit would look bad, I've seen them in 2006 Altimas and they look just fine (both single din and double din).. also, andaftermarket stereo will be better quality than your factory stereo... asfar as sound quality, your factory stereo in the 2.5S is about the worse you could have... anything aftermarket would sound better!

Just browsed back through this and we've forgotten to mention something. If the stock speakers are 4 ohm and the aftermarket speakers are 2 ohm, the factory head unit will probably not be able to handle that low of a resistance. The built in amp will probably overheat. I'm not sure if it will have a protect mode, so it could easily fry your stereo.

Also, ALL factory head units are way underpowered. Manufacturers generally skimp on the stereo to save money. Aftermarket units will have a TON more features you can use as well. Also, aftermarket head units look incredible, in my opinion, in any of our Nissans. Check for some pics on the internet of 3rd gen alti's with aftermarket head units and make up your own mind.
