I just wanted to know how would I be able to keep AC in my car after i do the RB swap currently i have no idea as how i would keep it. Some people have said it is the same setup for rb20, 25, and the 26. but have not given an answer to the problem. I have read that you cannot use the RB ecu for the 240 stock compressor, and vice verse(ka ecu for rb compressor). How would i work this?

oh ya i should mention that i have a '93 240sx. (fastback)would getting a after market ECU such as (APEXi Power FC) help with it any.

from what I have read, you should be able to use the RB's ECU and get the ac to work in the S13's without any problems using the RB's compressor. You just have to have custom lines made to hook it up. When I got my harness back from Mckinney, I believe was wired for the RB compressor. I haven't decided to spend the money getting the new lines made, so I just cut the belt going to the compressor and didn't hook up the wire.I haven't seen anyone yet with AC working, but someone has to have done it by now.

Hey do any of you know where i could get the custom wiring, tubing, or piping i would need to use the AC in the rb engine?any and all help would be greatly appreciated.so i could use the rb ECU in order to keep the AC(which should mean that the APEXi ECU would be workable as well)

I am sure one of these guys here could probably figure out a way to do it, but my suggestion would be to contact Mack at http://www.mckinneymotorsports.com for the wiring. for the ac lines, if you got a clip it should have the ac lines from the RB. Then you just take those lines and the 240(after swap) to just about any ac place and they should be able to make them for you and fill your system.

I already posted how to do the wiring a few weeks ago. A grand total of 2 wires need to be connected. That's it. Search.

As for keeping the A/C with an RB20 in an S14... bad news. The S14 compressor (for R-134a) will not bolt up to the RB using either the RB bracket and idler pulley or the KA bracket and idler pulley. A fabricated spacer block would be needed to make the compressor fit, but even then the compressor pulley lines up with the alternator and water pump pulleys... if you look at how that belt goes around the crank pulley, you'll see why this is definitely not going to work.

So the other option is to make up custom lines to fit the RB compressor. My problem with this is that the RB compressor was designed for R-12 and that the KA compressor is a much more sophisticated (and better) variable-pressure design. Plus, I really did not want to bleed my system because then I have to flush it and pump it down again. Maybe if I could find some cheap R-12 it would be worth it.

So for now, I will be without A/C. And since it was only 5 degrees the other day, that shouldn't be too bad for another 6 months....

Aye man you may have posted the information somewhere else but it would really be helpful if you could do it again on this thread as using the searches just seems to be getting me a lot of BS not associated with the A/C systems. It would also help me a whole lot more if you could be specific to a 93 240sx S13 using either the RB20DET or the RB25DET

thanks
