I bought an '04 Pathfinder last month to replace my last one. I just updated the story today to outline my situation now, but long story short is that I'll be storing this Pathfinder in my garage until the end of December.

I've never kept a vehicle in storage before. My parents kept cars stored in their backyard all the time -- and when they gave me one, it practically fell apart within a matter of weeks, even though the year before it ran perfectly. I don't want this to happen.

What kind of things can I do to keep my Pathfinder in good shape, considering that I'm not allowed to drive it around? Idle it in the driveway every week for a bit to keep the battery in good shape, turn the A/C on to keep it in good condition, burn off the gas every month and then top it to 1/4 tank with new gas I don't have stale gas in the tank, etc etc etc?

Heated garage helps.

A coworker says to jack the vehicle up from the sub frame to relieve stress on the springs (never heard of that before but it kind of makes sense)

start the vehicle up for 3 minutes to keep fluids moving every week.

fluid change when you hit the road again

and grats on getting a pathy

for something as short as 5 months i wouldnt do anything special... just park it. if it was like 10 months or more, id detail it inside and out, jack it up and put a car cover on it.

I had mine parked out in a pasture at my friends place for 3 months, just threw in some moth balls before I left, and she started right up 3 months later.

Yup Yup, I had the truck with me at school in Texas but home was in San Diego for the summer so this storage was free, and protected with a fence 2 blue heelers and a small arsenal of weapons inside the house. Its more secure than an alarmed garage imo :D
