Just a PSA -- I always assumed that when the engine light is on the vehicle runs rich or inefficient, but i never realized how much difference a couple of things can affect your gas mileage.
Prior to me addressing the engine light ive always been getting around 14 mpg average with a mix of city/hwy.
On the last handful of fillups Ive been consistently getting 19.xx doing a mixture of around 85% hwy and 15% city (very short, stop and go trips). Which is awesome!
Last night I filled up with 9.129 gallons @ 191.7 miles (of which 12 miles was city, the rest highway). Thats 21 mpg!!
I drive with cruise control at a steady 62-64 mph (depending on the speed limit), no A/C (doesnt work right now).
Recent repairs were..
new #3 ignition coil pack
new air filter
new IAC valve
new evap vent control valve
new gas cap
new o2 sensor
Spark plugs about 30k miles ago.
34 PSI all around
premium fuel
Vehicle is an 01 qx4 4wd, and just rolled over 170K last night.
I cant ever remember my fuel lasting in the tank as long as it does, althought maybe, maybe ive always done more city driving and maybe city driving will suck @ fuel efficiency.
I dont want to start a mileage thread, but is this typical? or should I be looking if my odomenter is counting miles acurately?
