Car damaged in accident on 2/16/2011. It was used daily prior to the accident. The car sustained major damage to the left rear quarter panel and left rear wheel assembly and possibly the axle.

The car has 310,000 miles (mostly freeway) and runs (ran) great - passed smog in November 2010. Recent work includes new transmission in Dec. 2008, fuel pump and radiator in 2007. I am the second owner, (purchased in 1995 w/20K miles on it) and the car has been well maintained (regular oil changes, tune-ups, etc…).

This has been a great car for me and I hate to part with it but since I didn't have collision insurance all repairs will be out of pocket.

I had a guy from a Nissan body shop look at it and he said it might cost $2-3K to fix, especially if the frame is bent.

Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Here's how the rear end looks...the bracket that holds the wheel assembly is broken...

yikes I'd not worry so much about the body, but the suspension and subframe looks slammed hard, is the subframe shifter over? I think this is one of those where you get a new car and save your good parts and part out.

i would suggest buying a new s13 also

the 2-3k you would spend on repairs could get you a good condition s13

I think he was talking to the op, but regardless. He is just seeking opinions.

I've been circle track racing a 240 for 8 years now, i''ve went thru several parts cars of suspension parts, front and rear, but i've never bent that rear subframe. Some of the links on the rear suspension are not very strong, but that works out good because by bending , or breaking, they absorb most of the energy of the crash, and don't pass it on to the frame.

You say one of the links is broke, that's probably the rearmost link. I think it's called a tie link. Probably more links on that rear suspension are bent also. I 've fixed damage worse than that on my own car with less than $100 worth of junk yard parts.

That would get the car back on the road. The body damage is something else. But body damage much worse than what I can see is fixed every day in body shops all over the country.

Bt the look I could guess toe arm, LCA and RUCA are bent, possibly upright as well. Depending on how hard that hit there is a chance of the 4 studs being pushed over. If the are not then you could get it back together with some junk yard parts for now.
