As much as I wouldn't want to part this car... I'm running low on options. With an engine that needs to be rebuilt and a FAS system that has who knows how much damage to it, the car would be a great conversion project with a built up VH45DE tossed into it. $1200 to convert the car and another $3500 to have the engine work done, she'd have to sell for at least $7-$7.5k afterwards to make it worth while and even then I still wouldn't be getting out of it what I put in... on that note though, she would be problem free as best as I know. The interior would need a thorough cleaning, but the rear seats still look new, though the drivers side seat boulster is worn and it looks like the passengers side seat is starting to crack. Those would be the only issues that I know of. Otherwise, new radiator, new tires and $1500 worth of other miscellaneous jobs put into this 100k mile car to get it back up and running before the engine over heat.

I say get the engine rebuilt and keep her.

But I only say that for selfish reasons. I want to see what they can do with a VH45DE engine that is not used for marine applications.

I'm quite interested myself. Paul states we should be able to get 350+ hp out of the engine (N/A). It'd be a quick car afterwards... and with mods like what Rob's done, she'd definitely be a sub 14 second car. High 13s... no problem.

I wouldn't mind someone here taking the car as a project car...

I'm running short on patience with it, besides the fact that it's 1500 miles away again!

I'm in the middle of doing an engine swap on my old 533i. Going from a 180hp NA engine to a turbocharged heart putting out 450+ hp :) . She won't be done for at least another month but boy will the wait be worth it! She should be running 12s when we're done... what a sleeper!

Nice!!

I talked to Paul a few weeks ago and he told me the same thing. He said they will also blueprint some headers for the engine.

I would like to see 350+ hp from the VH45DE w/o boost.

corey....search the board and contact a few of the guys who recently parted out a Q to see how much $$ they are getting for the car and how long it takes to part out. I can think of at least 3 Q's that have been parted out recently or currently by members here and this will give you a better idea on what $$ they are getting to help you weigh your options. Also...being that 3 Q's have been fully parted out within the last 3 months (2 currently & 1 Q 3 months ago)...there might not be a high demand for parts as there was a couple of months ago.

My personal interests would be for you to keep the Q and have that race engine built for it....
