Unfortunatly I have not had a chance to respond to any of the threads regarding this matter because I have been busy, however, I am taking the time to do so now.

Let me begin by explaining his current status. Kcar was simply returned to a regular member. He was not banned. Nor did anyone delete his posts, other than him and Daunttless, who worked together on it. It was his decision to do so, not anyone elses.

I can gather from the other posts about this subject there are still some unanswered questions. I will try to answer them the best I can.

First of all, Kcar was first made a moderator by Daunttless. Nobody was consulted first. Daunttless took it upon himself to make Kcar a moderator without asking. The other moderators at the time disagreed with Daunt's decision, however decided to let him stay as a moderator, but only under close watch. We agreed that if Kcar did not clean up his sarcasm and language, he would be demoted. We gave him a chance.

Many posts were made over the last couple months from kcar that we considered a "strike" against him. Everytime one of these comments were made, a thread in our moderator forum was started. Also, everytime a comment was made, either myself or Fred notified Daunttless, since kcar and daunt are friends, to talk to kcar about the situation. We felt it was better to communicate through daunttless, so that we did not sound as harsh. (It is usually nicer coming from a friend).

The final strike against kcar was in a recent post, where he used code to type out profanity that is normally blocked by censorship. We felt that a moderator or admin should never use this type of language, and especially not at the trouble of typing it in code so that it appears uncensored.

It was discussed on our admin mailing list (which consists of myself, movingviolation240, datsun411, speeddoctor, themonarch, and palmerwmd). Fred posted the message asking what we thought, and Paul, Nancy, and myself agreed with Fred. The others did not respond in favor of either.

I told Paul to make a thread to take a vote in the Moderator forum about kcar's demotion. AZhitman immediatly agreed. *I* demoted kcar within 5 mins later. By the next day, Repoman, Mayhem_j30, daedalus, former240s14, chally, and the monarch agreed. TonyVQ also said he simply agreed with his fellow moderator's decisions, whatever they may be.

Fred did nothing in regards to this matter except for pointing out threads to take a look at. It was the general consensus from other moderators that got him demoted.

Also, despite the rumor that "daunt was left in the dark" about this topic, Daunt *did* know about it. He knew about everytime that Kcar made an inappropriate post. I also told him that I was demoting him right before I did. And on top of that, Daunt never once responded to the thread in the moderator forum regarding the issue.

I agree with many of you that Kcar had many valuable posts and contributed greatly to the Nico forums. However, we simply did not think his attitude and language was worth his moderator privladges. We never intended for him to take it serious enough to remove all his posts. However, that is his choice, and what is done is done.

One thing any community needs is leaders who encourage new people to be a part of the community. Someone who does not make obscene remarks. That person may exist in the community, but not as a lead figure.

With that being said, any further questions or remarks about this subject can be emailed to me. This board is a clean board, and we will maintain the clean image we have. This is not a democracy. It is run by a set of rulers. We will do what we see fit best.
