just wondering, anyone interested in getting some katzkin leather to replace their cloth seats? I e-mailed the national sales manager and he said it might be possible to set up a group buy. I know there was some people here who wanted it. Just want to know if the people are still thinkin of getting it.

i'm interested but sort of broke at the moment so i couldn't do it for at least a month or 2 and i'd like to talk to an interior shop first to see how much to install and everything. how much is katzkin? and how much would it be in a group buy?

This is precisely why I chose to get cloth rather than leather (I knew that I would eventually want to get Katzkin!). Like Hussain, I'm curious to know how much this would cost...

I'm in the same boat. However, depending on the price I might be able to find some cash. I'm in for a GB.

For a Katzkin installer in New York I was quoted $1195 installed for a two tone leather combo w/piping. They said to add another $400 for heated seats.

Does this quote sound reasonable? Or can I beat it with a little more research?

finally got a message from them...

Quote »Sorry about the delay, I had some issues receiving your email. Anyways, we only sell through locally based installation facilities. You may want to try one of our web retailers:

http://www.leatherseats.com [/quote]checked out the sites but they were prices at $750+

I think its legit, When a dealership has a car with cloth seats and they want leather, they get something like that eBay kit and likely have it installed with a local guy. This piece is aftermarket and not factory. I believe Nissan is referring to OEM leather interior which would be an entirely different setup. You could always call local junk yards and hope they have a totaled coupe with a leather interior available.

I Bought the Ebay Leather, It's pretty nice. It was shipped from a company named "pecca" in CA. I have the box sitting in my living room right now, and I was planning on installing it DIY last saturday but I realized one of the tools needed "hog rings/pliers" are only sold at farming supplies stores not at any hardware stores around my house. Anyways, I'll post up results when I finally get it installed, wish me luck

I own a local custom car shop. I also have a large dealer/expeditor services division. We service one of the largest Nissan dealerships in the area and provide all their computer cut window tint, clear shield, electronics (bluetooth, alarms, navigation systems, etc), accessories (spoilers, grilles, wheels, chrome packages), but most importantly to this thread-their leather! We use all Classic Soft Trim which is more readily known as Roadwire. Katzkin and Roadwire are the two leading aftermarket leather manu's there are. I stock all seven of the Altima leather kits in each color (sandstone, black, nickel) and in both factory style "gathered-pleated" or smooth.

I can tell you that we install 3-5 kits a week for Nissan alone. Altima's are by far the most popular for this modification. Roadwire nor katzkin will sell to the general public, however, we will. Your biggest problem would be finding a local competent shop that will install it. There are lots of upholstery shops but there is a difference between custom upholstery and a guy that can install these kits (I know, I have both types employeed here!). You guys are getting a little burnt on pricing also. I can do a basic standard color leather kit installed for only $800-$900. Two tone takes it to $950, and suede inserts take it to $999! That's it! If you want a kit shipped, you are looking at about $60 shipping and handling fees but only about $700 for the standard kit!

If you guys are still interested, let me know. I have hundreds of these leather interiors we have installed just on Altima's alone. You can see them on our temporary myspace page a www dot myspace dot com / mcorautomotive (spelled out because I do not know if hotlinking is allowed here or not).

I was referred to this site by an employee at our Nissan dealership who knew that we had a pretty large online presence. I am glad to be a member and I am sure I can help you guys out allot. You name it, we have done it to Altima's (and just about anything else). Feel free to hit me up with any questions you may have!

Some leather pics for ya!
