msd btm only adjusts your timing. it retards timing per lb. of boost. it does nothing w/ fuel. running 7lbs, the btm wouldnt hurt, however you could get away with just retarding your base timing a deg. or two. i think the safc should work fine for you.

well i never had to do it because im using the btm, i cant explain exactly how, but if you have an fsm it tells you how, or do a quick search here, and you will find something.

Its better for you to just get the msd btm because your ecu will automatically adjust back to what it thinks is the best timing. If you go ahead and get the right thing now you wont have to worry about it later. And one more note the apex-i safc 1and2 can adjust timing buy tricking your computer.the richer you run it the more your timing is retarded, the leaner you run it the more it is advanced.its not very accurate but it does work.

base timing is changed by adjusting the distributor. But it's better to use something that will retard timing under boost. Retarding the timing off boost will make the engine more sluggish off boost, and probably worsen your gas mileage as well.

yeah, turning the dist will do it, but just retarding under boost is better. the ecm will not advance the timing if you retard it manually. if you advance it manually and get spark knock, the knock sensor may cause it to retard. just not the other way around.

as far as picking something to manage your fuel, you need to decide how far you want to take this car. Are you going to want to up the boost later on? At 7 psi, you're right on the edge of where most people say it is acceptable to use a rising rate fuel pressure regulator (RRFPR), which will bump the fuel pressure per pound of boost, giving you the fuel you need. After 8 psi or so, its pretty much agreed that you are going to want something a little more advanced. You will need a BTM along with this also.

If you want to go higher than that - depending on how high you want to go - you can consider doing a S-AFC + BTM combo, or possibly a JWT ECU. There are a lot of different options you can do, and they all have their pros and cons.

Here's a list off the top of my head in no particular order:

1. MSD BTM + RRFPR2. MSD BTM + S-AFC3. RRFPR + Retarded Base Timing4. S-AFC + Retarded Base Timing3. Hacked MAFS (s14 only) + MSD BTM4. JWT ECU5. Greddy E-Manage or Similar Piggyback6. Extra Injector Setup + MSD BTM7. Standalone Setup

There are probably even more that I'm forgetting..
