i just recently bought a 95 240. i was wondering if it would be more economical to go kat or sr20. i only want to make 350 - 400 horse. nothing too crazy . but i want it to be reliable. i have friends that say kat and some that say sr20. from the little bit of research so far a turbo kit is going to run around 3200 for the ka . i can get a sr20 swap for half that price i would just have to get a front mount. and if i do a kat for it to be reliable shouldnt i builld it. i am so confused i need your opinoin. thanks 240 noobie

Welcome to Nico!

not to be a ****, but this has been covered soo many times. PLEASE SEARCH. Both are not cheap and both can be reliable. Kat for torque, sr20 for high rpm.

Oh no he didn't!j/k. It is all an opinion thing. In the KA-T section(here) everyone is going to say KA-T FTW!!!Over there in SR land, they say SR. You build a KA-t for a lot cheaper than that. Actually the cost will run you about the same.I think it is pretty simple. Sr= easy swap. No brainer, plug and play.KA-T = Lots of research and a liitle thought, with some savvy parts buying. Both are great engines and you will enjoy either one.Search the threads and make your own decision. An educated decision is way better than an opinion from someone else.

I like how you "only" want 350-400whp.. like it's something easy to achieve with a 4 cylinder.. 400whp is crazy, especially in a 240sx. I was making 280whp and it scared the **** out of me every time it was at WOT.. it's going to be a lot more than $3200 for a 350whp KA.. espeically on pump gas.
