Hey Guys

Took my car (1995 240sx KA24DE) out tonight for a few shake down runs and the car runs really bad. As soon as I go part throttle the car will beging to jerk as well as when just at cruising speeds. When it go to 4k Rpm it will stutter, hesitate, and back fire. Also when I come to a stock and put it in neutral it will die when I come to a complete stop.

Here is what I think it might be.

Bad Gas - Gas is about 7-10 months old (Put some 91 Octand and drove around for about 2 miles and nothing changed)

Bad o2 sensor (manifold) Lack of a 2nd Rear o2 sensor

HKS SSQV Venting to atmosphere - I tightened the adjustment screw all the way down so it wouldn't vent and nothing changed.

I checked my MAF to see if it is flowing in the right direction and it is the only thing I noticed with it is that there are a few cracked wires with copper showing. I am running stock injectors, stock maf, stock timing and BKR7E-11 plugs gapped to .28. I am running 4.35Lb spring on the WG as well.

Check hot pipes for leakage.

I had the same problem while first running my KAT tonight. I was a little on the rich side which was fine. I don't have an o2 senor installed. I ended up having a leak on my intercooler pipe. The stalling problem was solved by taking the maf about 18 inches from the turbo and putting a filter on it. I was running open MAF to get it running. Also when the hose poped of it started backfiring. I hope this helps to getting your car running a little better. Nick

Tightening the screw will do nothing, it just changes how the hard/soft the bov will vent. What you need to do is recirculate or run anti-stall (if you have emanage). I'm using the anti-stall feature on emanage and it works GREAT - the ony drawback is that I have to keep my foot on the gas to keep rpm around 1500 during a cold start.

As for your car stuttering at 4k, I don't have any advice, however my car stutters/hesitates sometimes around 3500 and I think that may be due to my plug gaps being at factory gap.

How is your vacuum setup? And what are you doing for fuel and timing?

Yeah for a while my car would stutter like no other. But then I upgraded my coil to an MSD Blaster 2 Coil and haven't had a problem since.

I wonder if it is from my MAF being too close to the turbo? I just got off of work so I am going to check on the IC piping right now. Thanks.

I know mine is too close to the turbo. I put a air filter and cheapo adapter for the filter seemed to help a little. Once in a while it will bounce between 800-1000 until it levels out. I need to pipe the maf in a little better. I had the hose on the compressor loosen up a little. I get a backfire every once in a while. I only have a down pipe on. I get a full down pipe made tomorrow and it gets connected to my exhaust. Nick
