Well before people start yelling i have searched around and while i have found a lot of helpful advise i havent found quite what im looking for.

i have a 90 240 coupe. moms car was in the shop so i let her drive it. she blew the motor, hose ruptured and she assumed that the smoke was because the car was "old". well i have a neighbor that has a 92 wrecked in the front drivers side not too bad but he doesnt want to fix it so im gonna buy the whole car for 200. its got about 100k on the motor. heres the question.

i want to rebuild the motor with a turbo but am only looking for about 250-300 hp.

every bit of advise ive gotten is go big 400whp adn build advise for that. what, besides a set of gaskets, pistons, turbo, exhaust. should i do and where do you recomend getting them?

No need to rebuild the motor. our stockers easily hold 300rwhp

"only 250-300 horsepower" in a 240SX is insanely fun and wicked fast.

It should be pretty easy for you to hit 250 rwhp relilably. Just check out compression on the motor, and make sure it isn't leaking/burning oil now.

Fair warning, your going to want shocks/springs, wheels, and lots of other goodies to keep that power down later

ok so i should just tear it down clean it up and replace anything that is fubar and then be good running about 250-300whp without having to rebuild it much tougher.

If you have the time and money to do it, do it right. You'll spend much less in the long run by spending a bit more now.
