Karma is a funny thing. My Q45 has been for sale on CL and I posted here earlier today (see Classified Section). It seems that my Q45 got wind of the fact that I am going to sell it and guess what? It started acting up. A few months ago, after I replaced the knock sensors and the coolant and gas hoses under the plenum, the engine began running warm at freeway speeds. I suspected a possible head gasket leak into the cooling system and tested it with one of those chemical testers that detects combustion gases in the coolant. It tested fine, twice. Since the radiator tank was leaking as well, I installed a new radiator and burped the cooling system. Car has been running fine until this afternoon. It ran without issue for about an hour on surface streets but once on the expressway at 50+ mph, the temp began to rise again. I don't want to sell it to an unsuspecting buyer who is not able to commit the resources to make it well. The car is otherwise too nice to junk but I am DONE with wrenching on it. So I appeal to those of you in the SF Bay Area who either want to part it out or fix it. What is it worth to you? If you are serious, contact me at [email protected]

The California Air Resources board will give me $1000 to junk it. The car deserves a chance, but that means one of you needs to step up to the plate. At this point I am looking for the best cash offer by Sunday or it goes to the wrecker on Monday. Car is in San Jose.

Very sad... It might be worth disclosing the cooling problem and trying to get a bit over $1k for it on CL if you don't have any takers here.

If it doesn't have to be running to junk it, I'd snag the throttle body off of it before handing it over. It's worth an easy $150 on eBay.

To your point, It does need to be running (which it is) and have passed its last smog inspection (which it did) to be eligible for the CARB buy out. I am modifying the CL ad consistent with your comment. I would prefer to see it go to a good home but realistically, at this point in its life cycle, one needs to be a Q lover for the cost/value analysis to make sense. Hopefully someone here will come forward.

Its too bad, its my favorite color too that I've been looking for. Maybe a week ago I would have made you an offer, I guess thats the way the world works.

From what I could tell my offer would be too low for you because I know how much work its going to take, and what the car is going to be be needing in the next 12k miles. The suspension will all need to be gone through which is tough considering tokicos no longer exist.

Another old member in fremont wanted to sell his, same color but better interior and same mileage, but its been sitting for 3+ years and has no battery. He wanted 1250-1500 which is a stretch.

San Carlos:

As nice a car as it still is, realistically it is a parts car unless one has a spare engine looking for a new home. The last couple of times I've been to Pick n' Pull, the cars I've seen are physically undamaged which leads me to the conclusion that mechanical issues brought them there. I just don't have the time needed to keep this one on the road and sadly must say goodbye.
