i just wanted to make sure this was a vaccum line and if so where does it go. i followed it till it went under the manifold then i cant tell where it comes back out. the threaded fitting that goes into the manifold is why i feel the need to check before just riping it out. also if it is a vaccum line what does it go to. i would really like to just cap it off if possible for when i go ka-t soon.

i dont know why i used the nico hosting this time. if you look from the front of the car its on the right side of the intake manifold its the first hose after the throttle body and that manifold sort of "molds out or blends" and the hose itself goes onto a fitting that is threaded into the intake manifold

that hose is for the PCV (positive crankcase vent) there is a small black box on the right side of your timing cover.. that hose runs from there to the intake phlenum.

i have heard on a KAE you can removie just about every vaccum line except for the FPR And the Brake Master Cyl. However I have also heard the the pcv is a relatively important thing. So i guess the question is... Can I remove it w/o massively screwing things up?

its important that its not capped off but it doesnt have to go back into the intake stream. i had mine vented into the atmosphere for a while but that violates emission laws and leaves a nice coat of oil residue on whatever its pointing at. the best thing to do is install a catch can inline between the valve cover and intake, and if you dont want oil fumes in your motor when in vaccum either, another one between the intake manifold and pcv valve

Short Answer: no.

Slightly less short answer: you can remove it, but only if you really know what you are doing - there have been a few members who have successfully removed the pcv system... however they are also now idling @ 1k - which isn't that bad, but also unecessarily high.

And when wild_maxx said it connects to the black box on the "right" side... it would be the other "right" i.e. left side of the cover if you are looking at the engine from in front of the car.

well right now i am idleing at around 1000-1200 rpms due to what i have narrowed down to being vaccum leaks (which will turn into boost leaks when im turbo.) right now this hose seems to be the worst of the leaks. if i take the hose and pinch it with some plyers the idle drops right to where it should be about 750 to 800 rpms.

i figured it would be cheaper to replace the hose rather than the pcv valve but im also wondering if it could b the valve. also does anyone know if the hose it self goes all the way down to that black box. it would be a ***** if i have to wrestle with fittings under the intake.
