i know theres some threads about e to de but none really cover obd-II...

Could you guys please help me...I've been looking at several different sites and searching and cant find specific info, and i'm finding contradicting info about the swap. So...I have a Ka24e and want to swap to a '98 ka24de that is obd-II.

here's what i know(i think its right):-put in the '98 ka24de-cant use '98 engine harness...have to use obd-1 harness from a kade-cant use '98 intake manifold (right??)...use obd-1 manifold from kade-i can use my transmission from me kae-can use obd-II ecu (??)- can use kae starter-have to use obd-I distributor( can i use my kae one or does no?)-exhaust manifold...?? not sure, some people say no some say doesnt matter

thx alot to whoever helps out

and btw i know you need the ps lines, resevoir and tach from a dohc ka

First off, forget about OBD-I, OBD-II, whatever...means nothing here.

That being said...

To use ANY S13/S14 DOHC motor in an '89-90, you need a '91-94 wiring harness and ECU...but it's mostly plug-n-play.

You will also need a DOHC S13 distributor with external coil, and a '91-94 MAF sensor.

Now, the '98 motor makes it harder b/c you need the S13 coolant temp sensor (different plug on '96-98 motors)...and the plugs for the IACV and such may be different...this is why it is MUCH easier to just get an S13 DOHC motor with all the accessories, including intake and exhaust manifolds...and the "down pipe" that comes off the factor exhaust manifold.

No...

As I said...you keep using OBD...and that means NOTHING here.

S14 harness and ECU is quite different than S13...but the '95 harness and ECU is *almost* identical to '98...although one is partially OBD compliant ('95), and one is OBD-II ('98).

Just think S13 and S14...the differences lie there.

Anyway, you need a '91-94 ECU and harness.

It really is easiest to just find a complete S13 you can rape for parts..you can even use the '98 head/block, but you'll need the rest of the S13 stuff.
