My KADET runs about 20 psi of oil pressure at idle and about 40 psi under "normal driving" conditions. This seems low to me. Anyone know if there is an aftermarket high volume/high pressure pump out there or do I have to shim the relief spring to bring the pressure up. If shimming is the only way, what thickness do I start out with? Pulling the pan and using trial and error gets time consuming and expensive. Anyone ever done this?

That7s about where my RB20 runs, sounds ok to me, if you run real thick oil that would drop the pressure. I run 15W50, when I tried 10W40 the pressure increased as it was easier to pump.

I use Redline 15W50. It just seems low compared to other engines that I've had.

10w40 and 15w50 seems really thick to me any particular reason for running it?

so it will not get past the turbo seals and burn oil and also for high mileage engines i run a ka-et and i use 20w50 cuz i have a 250,000 mile engine and the turbo has like arround 150k miles on it so thicker is better for me cuz you actualy dont want that much oil pressure going to the turbo so 40 sound good

I have used 20w50 in every Datsun/Nissan engine I have ever had. Old Habits die hard. I used to have an autocross Rabbit that ran 100 psi cold and about 75 psi at cruise. Even my old L-16 engines ran about 40 at idle and 60 at cruise.
